Success is an Iceberg
“People seldom see the halting and painful steps by which the most insignificant success is achieved ” ~
Anne Sullivan
Most people see only the Tip of the iceberg when they look at successful people and their amazing success. Behind ever success is hard-work and a lot of sweat (in some form or another). The path to success looks easy and ordinary in hindsight. But those same paths look Outrageous ‘n Crazy to most people when successful people begin their journey.
The journey of Man to the Moon wasn’t just about J.F Kennedy , NASA or even Neil Armstrong (yes these people are the ones who helped make it possible) . The journey started when Herbert George Wells wrote his science fiction book The First Men in the Moon back in 1901. In the early Nineteen hundreds if you told to anyone that Man would travel one day to the Moon, they would think you were crazy, mock you and treat you like a lunatic ! It was the book (even though taken in humor) gave us the notion that we could travel to the Moon. We now know that it’s a reality and in the future it will possible for common people to travel to space and beyond (space travel age has already begun).
Similarly for many years a lot of people (including athletic and scientific community) believed that it was impossible for a Human to run a mile in less than 4 minutes. In 1954 it was Roger Bannister who was the first to ever break this record. Within following Months (not years) many other athletes achieved the same feet. All these people who achieved the feat after Roger Bannister, was competent enough to achieve the feat much before 1954. But the frame of reference they had in their minds told them that it was an impossible feat to achieve. And so even despite having the physical capability to run a mile in under a minute, they could not achieve it because in their minds they believed that it was impossible.
So the most important question that needs to be answered is,
What does it take to be successful ?
Well their are several things that makes a person successful but the most important of them all is the way the person thinks. Their believes, their desires & simply what their attitude towards life. Believing in yourself & taking the road less traveled as most frequently encountered recipes in most success stories. And the only reason people achieved what they do is because they believed deep down inside (just like the Sun Rises in the East) that they can achieve it!
So the next time you look at the successful people, please know that these people worked very hard to reach where they currently stand. And behind all that Shiny Success you see is a lot of hard-work, commitment, sacrifice and the ability to believe in what others thought was impossible.
